BLUE PEONY COLLECTION
DESIGN DETAILS:
The blue peony collection is a selection of garments inspired by ancient Chinese cultural elements. In Chinese culture, the peony is the "king of all flowers. " It is the symbol of peace, happiness, and prosperity. This stunning flower bursts into bloom through my garment details and striking modern silhouettes. Blue is the primary color of my collection reflecting the colorway of Chinese Blue-and-White porcelain.
This collection features various construction and surface-embellishment technique to showcase my skills as a fashion designer. All of the decorative leaves were laser cut, and the flowers were hand-painted using textile paints. The garment patterns were developed by hand patternmaking, and the garments were constructed using industrial sewing techniques. This apparel collection was designed for all age groups and can be worn for both business and casual occasions.
As an international student studying in America, I wanted to introduce my culture to everyone here through my fashion designs. I wanted to present people with the beauty of traditional Chinese cultural elements with a modern interpretation through the medium of fashion.
